Some of the most elegant jewelry boxes available today are made by Reed & Barton. This is the same company famous for those silverware boxes made of elegant woods. They have been in business since 1824 and they enjoy one of the finest reputations in the industry. They produce fine picture frames as well as their silverware cases and elegant jewelry boxes. They also have very popular specialized cigar humidors and pen chests. Their very popular line of jewelry boxes makes wonderful corporate gifts. The boxes can be individually engraved, or have a company name or logo imprinted. These elegant jewelry boxes are available for men or women, and there are some that even children will enjoy. Musical versions are popular with both young and old jewelry admirers. For the watch collector, there are wooden boxes especially designed to hold a watch collection. The plush padded partitions accommodate the individual watches and keep them from scratching against one another. Most of the interiors are of suede cloth or crushed nylon velvet for extra protection of the jewelry. For men, there are also table or dresser top valets. These are open for keys, change, cell phones, etc. All of the trinkets can be kept in one place and the surface of the dresser remains protected.
Leather designs are also available from Reed & Barton. They have a leather roll up model that is one of my favorite travel accessories. It fits easily in a handbag or carryon bag, and can be tucked away inside those hotel safes. It can also be used in home safes or safety deposit boxes. Some of these leather designs can be locked with the included key. These are all lined in elegant suede cloth or rich nylon crushed velvet. The leathers, as well as the wood boxes, are beautifully detailed. The woods boxes are available in mahogany or cherry or white or natural oak. A rich crush resistant nylon velvet lining coordinates or contrasts with the wood finish. All of the drawers have individual compartments to hold earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces. Most of the larger chests have pendant hanging hooks and a shirred pouch pocket to keep long and short chains from tangling together. Rings are kept separated by softly lined rolls called ring bards. Earrings have their own small pocket compartment to keep them from scratching or damaging each other.
High gloss piano finished wood jewelry boxes are especially striking. The natural wood grain can be plainly seen on all of the wood boxes, but it is also highlighted on the gloss-finished woods. The jewelry boxes are available in two- drawer to super large three drawer versions. There are Queen Anne tables with a drawer that will hold these larger jewel boxes. The tree drawer chest is 17x11 x9 a and with the table becomes 18x12x36 overall. That's some jewelry tower! The models that lock also have a black tasseled key for security. Much as you'd like to pack these chests in your lightweight luggage, they are just too large to leave home. You'll need to pack the travel versions when you go on a trip.
The Music boxes play aIrish Eyesa on the jewelry case with the Irish blessing engraved on the mirrored lid. All the musical movements are Sankyo and are gold-toned 18-note. The Mahogany finishes with silk-screened American flag plays aGod Bless America.a There is also a glass top musical chest in cherry finish that plays aMusic Box Dancera and a Mahogany finish box that plays aEdelweiss.a For the young at hear, there's the aSound of Musica in a mirrored lid box with Cherry finish. Don't your jewels deserve one of these beautiful jewelry boxes to house them in?

I need a leather-bound portfolio book. I need the book to include a case in which the book goes in. The case does not need to be leather. I prefer black, and faux-leather is acceptable. QUESTION:
how do you get ink out of a leather portfolio?
I've heard different ways but I don't want to ruin my nice portfolio. Does anyone have a good meathod I can trust?-
ANSWER:
Use Krud Kutter Graffiti Remover™.I tested Krud Kutter personally. It out-performed everything else for removing ink.
What did NOT work for me: Hair Spray, Rubbing Alcohol, Nail Polish Remover, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Hand Sanitizer, and even WD-40.
Spray Krud Kutter onto a clean rag and just wipe the ink right off. It's that simple.
Krud Kutter is specifically formulated to remove ink, so it actually works. It's a little pricey, but you'll be surprised how often you use it.
You can buy Krud Kutter Graffiti Remover at Target, Home Depot, and most hardware stores.
You can also buy it over the Internet:

You may want to type in another search word on Google Maps like "stationery stores" or "office products."

QUESTION:
Good Leather/Nylon Shoulder Bag/Portfolio?
Hello,My mom is taking a school course and has complained of her lack of organization skills. For Mother's Day, I wanted to buy her an entire load of office supplies (pens, Post-its, highlighters, pencils, erasers, binders, paper, subject dividers, etc.) plus a shoulder bag that could hold a few books and notes with dividers and such for the office supplies. Price range: probably 0 maximum; but I'd rather not spend too much in case she doesn't like it.
Would anyone recommend any sort of shoulder bag (leather or nylon)? I'm thinking along the lines of Samsonite products--some sort of portfolio kind of thing with space to organize. The closest thing I've been able to find are laptop cases....which would be great but she doesn't have a laptop.
I'm at a bit of a loss for search engine terms--any recommended items, websites, or anything else I should include with the bag would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.....

QUESTION:
What type of portfolio (art/graphic design) case do you use to hold your work?
Some people use the clear plastic sheets in a binder, some people mount their art onto matt board/foamcore and carry in a large metal or leather case... what is most acceptable these days?-
ANSWER:
The most acceptable is a binder with plastic sheets. I use the Kolo Calvin Presentation Book, which you can find here: http://www.dickblick.com/zz152/15/One thing to mention is make sure the book itself stands out. Personalize it in some way but keep it professional. With the Kolo Calvin I use, there is a cut out square on the front where I can insert a logo or a close-up of one of my artworks. There are lots of other very nice presentation books on the market so check out the rest at the Dick Blick website or your local art supply store. Hope this helps!

QUESTION:
Designer presentation--what alternatives besides copies of pictures and blueprints/drawings are there?
My wife is an interior designer and space planner. She's has a degree in the field and two decades of work experience with two firms (one focusing on government and commercial, the second focusing on residential). She is now getting ready to start going out on job interviews and it's been a long time since she's had to present/display her work samples. She was wondering what other options she has besides the typical: pictures of work, CADD drawings, blueprints in the old leather portfolio? What suggestions do you have for her?-
ANSWER:
Hey Agility Man:Your wife sounds like she has an amazing resume! Technology, technology, technology is the answer. The leather portfolio is now digital, and she'll do best with a laptop presentation of her work.
Cost reduction is also a big deal these days. If she can show examples of where she did an outstanding project for less, without compromising quality in a dynamic, energetic Power Point presentation, she'll have their attention immediately. She can show her initial cost workup sheets and then the finals with the savings to the bottom line budget as slides. Interspersed with great photos and drawings of before and after, she'll present a superior candidate image.
Best wishes in her search.

QUESTION:
Suggestions for a design work presentation besides a standard portfolio?
My wife is an interior designer/space planner. She has worked the past two decades with firms that did commercial, government and residential firms so she's a very experienced designer. But during those 20 years, she's been with only two firms. She's now looking at a job search. When she first got out of school and started interviewing 20 years ago, you'd show up for the interview with the leather portfolio showing samples of your design work. She quickly got hired and, like I said, hasn't switched jobs or even interviewed around very much. But now that she's in job search mode, she's looking for alternatives to the standard paper-blueprint-picture in the portfolio routine. What other options can any of you suggest for displaying her work when she goes on interviews?
-
ANSWER:
Good point, so you realize the times have changed and you need to keep that in mind when she is trying to be creative in showing her work. One of the big things out there is people do a cover letter, little something about them and the job they are applying for, then they create a computer disk with all there stuff on it. Some go as far as having all there items in different categories such as resume, creative work, independent work, and so on, don't go over five categories if possible. Before interviewing call and as if they except resumes and portfolio on computer disk, some still like to do it the old fashioned way and some prefer you to send it all via email. Technology, huh? If you do it the old fashioned way, the are looking for glossy pictures of the work and usually not the original, but plan basing is nice to see. Pick one thing she did and show her thought proses in the art on how she got to the final result. People now and days have no heart and they want crisp, clean, and original. They also want to flip through your stuff quick and have generally made up their mind with in the first three to four pages of portfolio, so make those your absolute best. GL!!!

QUESTION:
Custom portfolio imprinting?
Is there anywhere on the internet or in north Texas where I can get custom imprinting/foil stamping/etc for a (photography) portfolio? The material is synthetic leather and it's 11x14". I already have the design I want on the front of it but I can't seem to find anywhere that will do this-I already have the portfolio picked out so I only need the imprinting. Or if anyone knows of a place to get a unique portfolio-with or without imprinting-that would be helpful too, everything I've found so far is a plain binder-type (that's why I'm looking for the imprinting). I prefer the 11x14 size but I think if I really like the design I will be flexible. Thanks in advance.

How to dress for a job interview?
I need to buy clothes for a job interview, but I don’t know exactly what to get. It is for a position in a research lab. I want to know what kind of suit to get, and also which dress shoes, socks, dress shirt, and tie. Also, can you recommend me a briefcase (one that is leather and has a strap) and a portfolio (that I can keep my notebook and pen in)? I’m looking for something affordable.
I’d also like to know which color and design to get for all these things, and where I can find them.

Hi! You need to dress business "professional" for an interview. Use this article as a reference:How to Dress Business Professional – For Men
http://www.ehow.com/how_5321969_dress-business-professional-men.htmlYou can purchase a leather-like folder to put your notebook and pen in from an office supplies store - you don't necessarily need a brief case. Black is a safe choice for a color.

QUESTION:
What are the best (and worst) art portfolios you've seen? What makes them great or trash worthy?
I'm in the process of revamping my art portfolio and I'm trying to figure out exactly what to do. Should I bound it, keep it in clear sleeves, add text descriptions, design a background template for each page?I've seen very few art portfolios and need some direction in making my own. I want to know what others have done to land their design job or what hiring professionals find interesting in a portfolio to bring back that interviewee.
I'm currently a junior designer and to get the job I used a black leather, zip binder with clear sleeves inside to hold my artwork. The artwork was printed on regular 8 1/2" by 11" white paper. So a lot of white space was seen. At the time, I liked my portfolio but now looking at it, I find it very weak presentation wise. I doubt it will help me get to that next level if I keep it the way it is. I want to make it stand out but in all the RIGHT ways.
I hope to work somewhere that will let me make art from scratch and eventually as an art director.
-
ANSWER:
Personally I take super duper pricy portfolio with dread because it usually means they will be pretty bad. Let your work speak for itself with a clean, clear professional approach. It’s true that sometimes the white border can be harsh if you have a piece that relies a lot on colour and subtleties. Cut your artwork to get rid of the border and contact glue it on a neutral gray sheet to fit in your portfolio.
As you probably already know, put ONLY your best work in there and any piece you’re not sure to include or not, don’t. You’re judged on your WEAKNESSES and not your strengths… Your best piece should be first, second best should be in the middle and third best should be last.Worst portfolio that ended up on my desk was full of pretentiousness and to top it all of had a plagiarised piece in it. Blacklisted name and dead-boxed portfolio.

ANSWER:
depends on the agency and their creative directors idea of what is cool. I have seen some real garbage that has been real liked by agencies that gear toward that style. It really depends on personal opinion. So if one doesn't like your work, dont be discouraged, it's just personal taste & style.

ANSWER:
Look them up on the Internet. They usually have a section like employment opportunities. You can email a brief letter and your resume to the same contact as the one for the advertised jobs hoping that they will appreciate your initiative and consider you. You can also try to find some important staff people from their website. Even if they aren't the exact people, they may forward your email to the relevant ones. The interesting thing is when they do that, the recipient sometimes sees it as a recommendation, so it may work to your favor... Good luck!!!

QUESTION:
Do the 2-pocket monster binders/portfolios have the Cushioned Pages and everthing else?
I know 9-pocket monster portfolio's have Cushioned Pages, sewn instead of glued pages, and are side loading are they the same for the 2-pocket ones? And are they made of leather? (If they are do you know of any high quility mtg binders that do not have leather?)-
ANSWER:
They are the same materials as the big ones. The pages aren't actually really cushioned but are a textured plastic that let's you slide out cards easy. The rest of the binder is made out of pretty good quality plastic and binding and spine are durable and ment to stretch. I'm pretty sure it has no leather on it. I think it's pretty high quality and I don't think anyone else make 2 slot page binders like that.

QUESTION:
How to put together a portfolio?
I know I should use a portfolio, but I'm having a hard time looking for a nice, but affordable one (preferably under ) to give to a private school I am applying to. (It will not be returned.) Something sort of like this is ideal: http://www.lightimpressionsdirect.com/it… but I don't need the leather or anything, so could you suggest something else? Also, what should I think of when choosing my pictures? I know that I will show a self-portrait, but I'm having trouble choosing what else I should present to the admission officers. Also, I shoot with a Nikon D90, so I'm wondering how I should go about printing my photos. Will they do it at a nearby print store? Thanks! (sorry for the details)

ANSWER:
Here is a great book to help you with your portfolio and then some.
http://www.amazon.com/Successful-Self-Promotion-Photographers-Elyse-Weissberg/dp/081745926X/ref=pd_sim_b_3http://www.pearlpaint.com/shop-Itoya-THE-ORIGINAL-ART-PROFOLIO_3999_3986.html
You can put a cover photo and your name in the clear sleeves on the cover of this book and it looks semi pro. It has enough pages to show your work.

QUESTION:
Ive got a signed copy of 'Not As Briefed' It's more like a portfolio than book. is it valuabe? Maybe Ebay it?
It has a leather (type material) cover. The binding is a metal sort of binder. It's about 13 1/2 inches long and 10 1/2 inches tall. Its in very good condition. I'm afraid that I'd get screwed on Ebay since I have many times in the past.-
ANSWER:
Alibris.com is an excellent source for prices on rare books. It shows the first edition of this book for 5. (New, it's worth about )On ebay, just set the "starting bid" price for the minimum that you will accept for the book. If you don't get the bids, you can keep relisting it until you do (although you will pay a fee each time.) You can also add a fee to the shipping costs, to increase your profit.
